* Two Families or one?

Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

Two Families or one?

Post by puzzledlesley » 19 Sep 2014 15:09

Hi,

Family Historian 5 - very new user!

I have previously kept my family and that of my husband's family as two separate trees but now realise that there are connections between the families - is it possible to import them as one 'project' or should I keep them as two and just put in the connections?

Many thanks.

Initially you will have to import your two Projects.

Once you are a little more familiar with FH you can Merge one Project into the other, and I advise that you do for the very reason you stated.

I suspect the only duplication may be you and your husband and perhaps a few other close relations.

The FH File > Merge/Compare File command will automatically merge the matching records.

But do read the Help before launching into the process.

Also make sure you have good Backups of both Projects just in case things go wrong.
