Query formatting, Newline

Post by donone » 24 Apr 2014 18:45

V5:
I have produced a query and require some columns to contain NewLine. I have used =Text("X") to produce text in a column but cannot find the required code? for NewLine.

The purpose is to use the Query output to feed into a formatted text frame in a DTP program (Scribus). Eveything works except that the tab separated file produced by the query has to be edited to break the lines.
Can anybody provide this please?

Also does anybody know of a Query function to convert %INDI.BIRT[1].DATE:MONTH_NAME% to show three letter months instead of the full. I cannot find how to add the COMPACT abbreviation to the expression.

Thank you.

You can't add newlines into Query Results, you will need to either put a place holder in and then do a search and replace once the data is exported, or write a plug in to export the data in the exact format you want.

For the Month again it's easy in a plugin, or just do a search and replace after outputting the file.

If you look at the Evernote plugin I wrote the code will probably be quite close to what you need.

Thank you very much Jane, I will pursue your Plugin.

PS It does not show in the plugin list as Evernote, can you give directions please?
