Creating a PDF file

Post by KenP » 27 Mar 2014 12:03

I tried to Create a PDF file by going to "Diagram - Save as PDF " but a message comes up saying "PDF file output is not enabled". Does anybody know how to enable this please.

The most common reason for this is a damaged or uninstalled PDF printer.

On Control Panel>Programs uninstall "Family Historian Nova PDF Printer" and then re-install the 5.0.9 upgrade.

In the majority of cases this will fix the problem.

There is a KB entry with similar advice how_to:reinstall_family_historian#save_as_pdf_file_does_not_work|> Save As PDF File Does Not Work.

If you have gone through FH V4 then you may find there are two Family Historian novaPDF Printers installed. You can safely un-install them both, before re-installing FH V5.0.9.

I have uninstalled the PDF printer. When I go to search for updates it says FH V5.0.9 is already installed. Do I have to go to the FHUG website to get the update or will it just say you are already installed.

There are a number of ways to obtain the FH V5.0.9 download to save in case you need to re-install.

From FH you can use Help > Family Historian on the Web then on their Downloads tab you will find the Latest Free Upgrade.

In the how_to:about|> About Family Historian follow the links for Version 5.0.9 and that will lead to the same place.

Preserve all your installation downloads in an archive as advised by how_to:reinstall_family_historian#installation_archive|> Installation Archive.
