Everything you have described all sounds perfectly OK.
(1) Missing Cressey Census Files
We'll leave the missing X files in abeyance, as you seem confident you can repair them later.
(2) Broken Windows XP PC
If the old PC was the one running Windows XP then be aware that support for XP expires on 8th April.
I would not advise repairing the hard drive if you were intending to use Windows XP on the Internet.
It might be worthwhile just for local backups, but an external USB disk drive might be cheaper.
It is unlikely that such an old PC would run Windows 8, but you could ask.
(3) Startup Window
It wasn't clear whether you preferred starting FH in the Records Window rather than the Focus Window or just tolerated it. At least you now know the setting to change is Tools > Preferences > Startup > Display the Records Window, instead of the Focus Window, at Startup.
(4) Final Recovery Step Options
We are now ready to take a few final steps to complete the recovery.
This can use the FH Gedcom Backup - Markham 2c - 2014-03-13 2348.
Can you recall the FH changes you made in the week between the Full Backup on 06-03-2014 and the Gedcom Backup on 13-03-2014?
If those changes involved any new Multimedia Files they will NOT be recovered by restoring this backup.
If the FH Gedcom Backup - Markham 2c - 2014-03-13 2348 is restored then all the GEDCOM changes including the new Multimedia Records will be recovered.
But Tools > Work with External File Links will have an X against each missing file.
You would then need to repair those file links in a similar way to the Cressey Census Media files.
If you choose NOT to restore this Gedcom Backup then you'll have to re-enter everything since 06-03-2014.
(5) Create Full Backup
In any case I would advise creating a Full Backup of your Markham 2d Project now.
Use File > Backup/Restore > Full Backup (Entire Project Folder)
If necessary, you know how to restore this backup, which will need a new Project Name such as Markham 2e.
See glossary:backup_and_recovery|> Backup and Recovery for more details on this topic.
(6) Restore Gedcom Backup
If you decide to go ahead with this step then these are the instructions.
Use File > Backup/Restore > Restore Backup to open the Select File to Restore window.
Then Open the FH Gedcom Backup - Markham 2c - 2014-03-13 2348 zip file.
The Enter Restore File Name window should show C:\Users\Victor\SkyDrive\Family Historian Projects
Navigate down to ...\Markham 2d\Markham 2d.fh_data so the Markham 2d Gedcom File is listed.
Select that Gedcom File so File name: at the bottom says Markham 2d.ged and click Save.
Approve the Confirm Save As warning, and say OK to open the restored file.
(7) Check the Project Media
As before, use Tools > Work with External File Links and check the File Links list.
Bypass the missing Cressey Census file links and check the remainder.
Are all the remainder within the Project Data Folder & Media folder?
Any Multimedia you added after 06-03-2014 will have an X against them.
(8) Final Full Backup
Use File > Backup/Restore > Full Backup (Entire Project Folder) again.
Unless you have any further concerns, or need any advice on retrieving & correcting the missing Media files, you should be OK now.
If you need to copy, rename, or otherwise manage Projects in future, then try using the File > Project Window > More Tasks options rather than using Windows File Explorer.
To move a Project, first Copy it, and later Delete the original.
If necessary remember to choose a new Location if you move the Family Historian Projects folder.
