In the individual records I have a large number of single given names mostly of female spouses it would be helpful if they appeared on the list alphabetically near their partner.
Is there anyway they can be entered which will attain this making it obvious that the surname is not their maiden name? I thought I might just use their spouses surname with a square bracket around it any suggestions please or is there an agreed protocol.

Re: given names only recorded
Welcome to the FHUG Michael.
I have moved this topic to the FH General Usage Forum because it is not to do with Research but with FH Usage.
It is not obvious why it is so helpful for Spouses to appear on the Records Window list alphabetically near their Partner.
Just double-click any Individual and the Property Box shows all their Spouses & Children.
With the Property Box still open, just click any other Individual and their family is shown.
Likewise, in the Focus Window or a Diagram or Report, the Spouses & Children will be shown nearby.
Some users do enter the Husband's Surname, perhaps in brackets, until the Wife's Maiden Name is discovered, but even without the brackets, once there are many entries with the same Surname, then Spouses and Children will not necessarily be listed close together.
But the primary convention is to use the Wife's Maiden Name, and once that is entered, they will NOT appear alphabetically near their Husband in the Records Window anyway.
You can Configure the Columns of the Records Window to display the Spouse(s) of each Individual if that helps.
The Expression to display just the 1st Spouse is:
The Expression to display up to four Spouses is:
BTW there is also the Immediate Family standard Query that lists the Spouses and Children of any selected Individual.
