I'm trying to create a GEDCOM file from a project using the File > Import/Export > Export > GEDCOM file... dialog. I want the ouput file to not contain any NOTE information. To this end I selected the box Note records under Exclude. This didn't work, I still got all my note records in the output file. These were shown in the GEDCOM file as both 1 NOTE and 2 NOTE.
Is it possible to exclude the NOTE information from the output file using this dialog?
I apologize if this is answered somewhere... I couldn't find anything here on the FHUG website or in the program help.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Question about excluding NOTE records on export
Remember Note records are not the same as local notes. The exclude only removes Note Records and not local notes.
It's a fairly easy job to remove them using a plugin once you have exported the file, do you write plugins? If not this one should work for you:
Strip Notes From File
Please double check the result as I just knocked it up quickly this morning.

The Split Tree Helper has an option to Delete all note fields within records.

Re: Question about excluding NOTE records on export
Jane,
The plugin did get rid of all the 1 NOTE records, but didn't get rid of the 2 NOTE records.
Peter,
The split tree helper did the trick. I forgot all about this as I wasn't really trying to split my tree. It worked great.
Thanks to both of you,
Bill
