Re: Show Project Statistics V1.5/6 Plugin

Mike,
I had been thinking about an ignore Exception by Exception option, but put it aside as nobody had asked for it.
I am thinking it would require a new tab that listed the Exception Reports with an Ignore tick box against each one.
It may be trickier to implement than it sounds but I will add it to the wish list.
If I understand you correctly, I would love to have this type of control over the "errors" that are reported. I would like to suppress some "errors", but not others.

Thanks,
Bill

Would a configuration tab like the one on "Find duplicate Individuals" be feasible?

Most users probably only need the defaults, but if something can be tweaked, it would be nice to make it easier to do.

To be clear could you both clarify a couple of points, because there are several ways of proceeding.

(1) Each and every individual Exception Report row in the Result Set could be Shown/Hidden similar to the Omit Non_Duplicates tab of the Find Duplicate Individuals Plugin. This would rely on the Record Id and Data Ref and Individual / Family Couple / Fact Item details remaining unchanged. So for example, if the Exception related to %INDI.OCCU[2].DATE% and an earlier Occupation Fact were added, that would change the Data Ref to %INDI.OCCU[3].DATE% and the Exception would get Shown again. Also, with a large number of Exception Reports the dialogue to work through them all might become quite tedious, because they would need to be displayed in screen sized batches.

(2) Each category of Exception Report could be Enable/Disabled as per the list in the Help & Advice page for Result Set under Exception Report Detailed Explanations, i.e. Citation Entry Date: warning, or Fact Age is too large, or Gender of Individual is undefined, etc.

(3) A few specific parameters could be adjusted similar to Set Preferences tab of the Find Duplicate Individuals Plugin. e.g. The Age limit for Fact Age is too large, the Status values for No Marriage Event nor unmarried Status, the specific Flags for Unused Flag , etc.

I suspect you will say all of the above. but if you could prioritise them it would help.

My initial thought was that maybe you could utilise the "Problem set Ignore markers" that Jane's plugin can create. Then you could choose to show all, all but ignored or just ignored.

Unfortunately, there are several technical reasons why that won't work.
Not least of which is that Jane's Plugin does not offer all the data items that Show Project Statistics reports.
Also I am not keen on cross-dependencies between Plugins from different Authors, because either Author could change their Plugin and prevent the other one working correctly.

Mike,

At this point I was just thinking of option #2. There are certain categories of "errors" that I would like to not report. Also, sometimes I am looking for just one category of "error" and it would be nice to disable all the others and enable only the one category.

Thanks,
Bill

Re: Show Project Statistics V1.7 Plugin

Would you guys like to try Version 1.7 from my SkyDrive Show Project Statistics download.

It will overwrite your Version 1.6 but that can be re-installed from the Plugin Store if necessary.

There is no Help & Advice for the new Options tab yet, but I think it is all fairly obvious.

The tick boxes choose which Exceptions are displayed, both in the Result Set, and also as red marked statistics on the Records and Facts tabs.

These settings are dynamic and will take effect immediately without needing to use the Update Statistics button.

Mike,

It works great. This is just what I needed. The only minor thing is that the window for the plugin is a bit too small so that the bottom of the buttons are cut off.

Mike

Thanks for the new version of the plugin, the options are great. It works well on my databases.

I too have the chopped off bottom buttons issue.

Yes, I sometimes got that too, because I have had to increase the Options pane size.

Can you confirm that clicking the Restore Defaults button fixes it?
Beware that will also reset all your Statistics and Exception Reports and Options.

If that works, then I can correct the Plugin to fix the problem automatically.

I have only done a quick test on my small test data, and I am pleased with the new options.
I did get the chopped buttons on my W7 machine , but not on my XP machine. I will check tonight on my W7 machine as to whether restore defaults resets the window correctly.

Mike,

Clicking on Restore Defaults did correct the problem for me. I am also on Win 7.

Thanks Bill, I've found the cause and the correction, which I think is foolproof, and have tested on XP and Win 7.
The fixed version is available via my SkyDrive link above, but it would be tricky for you to recreate the scenario that exhibits the problem in order to test that the fix works.

Mike

The new version (1) didn't restore the buttons automatically. Once I did the reset though the buttons are full sized. Just FYI.

That is correct - the fix is only applied when the version changes and a reset is required.

[EDIT]
Version 1.7 is now in the FH Plugin Store.
