* Multiple Marriages

I am so sorry that I have to ask yet a further question. I have a strange family. One lady has been married three times and divorced three times. When I make all the entries my tree shows each male in there own box with the word "div" underneath the marriage details. but only the first marriage is recorded in the female box. I have gone through the edit box and made sure that the word "any" appears but it still has no effect.

The default Template Data References only show the 1st of each type of Fact.
i.e. 1st Birth %INDI.BIRT[1]%, 1st Census %INDI.CENS[1]%, 1st Marriage %FAM.MARR%, etc.

There is a special Index [1+] that ensures all multiple instances of Facts are shown.
i.e. All Births %INDI.BIRT[1+]%, All Censuses %INDI.CENS[1+]%, etc.

Unfortunately, Marriages are tricky, because they are NOT Individual Events but Family Events.
The %FAM.MARR% only refers to the first displayed Family in the Diagram.
So the [1+] has to be applied to the Individual ~ Spouse Family links.
i.e. All Marriage %INDI.FAMS[1+]>MARR%

Similarly, for all Divorces %INDI.FAMS[1+]>DIV%

Thank you for your time Mike. Unfortunately, and I am not being rude, I have not got a clue what you are on about.
This time I will pass until one day, perhaps, I might understand the formulae.

OK Ron, perhaps a screenshot would help, focussed on just Marriages.
This is the same Edit Text Scheme Item in which you set all the Box Type values to any, but now we are looking at the Template at the top.
It currently shows just one Marriage and looks something like:
Marr: %FAM.MARR.DATE:COMPACT% in %FAM.MARR.PLAC:TIDY%
but to show multiple Marraiges it needs to be something like:
Marr: %INDI.FAMS[1+]>MARR.DATE:COMPACT% in %INDI.FAMS[1+]>MARR.PLAC:TIDY%
i.e.
every FAM.MARR is replaced by INDI.FAMS[1+]>MARR and the rest of the Template stays the same.

Hello Mike, thank you for all the time you spend on my behalf, but I'm afraid that I have to report a dismal failure.
I complete the easy part about getting on to the edit text scheme and then to the template. This is where my problems start. First of all I am confronted with =Exists Text (%FAM>MARR%,"MARR") %FAM.MARR.DATE:COMPACT% in %FAM.MARR.PLAC:TIDY%
There are 3 instances where FAM.MARR are recorded (including the one in brackets)
I have really tried each way to substitute FAM.MARR with INDI.FAMS etc
Sometimes I get an error message "the expression beginning at position 103 is not recognised, or else I get 3 marriages all identical.
After I have made the alterations I click on <<Insert, & then OK I then get another window& click on Family & then insert.

I have honestly come to the conclusion, Mike, that I can live with this problem and would suggest that you do not pursue the matter. I will wait until I can get to Chapters 13&14 to understand queries.

Apologies for jumping in but thanks Mike!! I had a multiple marriage text scheme but somehow lost it at the last upgrade to V5 & couldn't figure out how I'd coded it. This works a treat.
