Help! I successfully put in about 70 pictures, but sometimes they don't appear. And todat when I opened up the whole diagram they'd ALL vanished. Properties says 'no picture available'. I've scoured the manual and can't find any reference. What have I done wrong? Or is my copy of FH 2.1 a duff one?

You have not given me much to work on.
If you select a person then click the multimedia option are the pictures there? In the multimedia tab on the records window do the images show?
On the diagram options on the picture tab have you got pictures turned on and is there a {{picture}} line in your diagram text?

Hi Jane. They're there when I open multimedia - it just says 'unable to load object. unable to open file.' Yes O have got Pictures turned on in the Diagram Options, but the picture lines are no longer there (although they used to be).

Thanks Jane. Yes I had moved the picture file. However I still don't understand why a picture shows in one diagram - say Ancestors - but not another, such as Descendants. Surely once the picture is in for that person it should show in the diagram however it's displayed?

The only thing I can think of is that you have turned off pictures or selected say picture 2 rather than picture 1, which would mean someone with two pictures would get the second one only, someone with 1 picture would get no picture.

When you move a gedcom file, FH tries to be helpful in also moving the links. There is a good explanation in the help from the Work with external links option in the tools menu.
Personally I keep all my linked items 'below' my gedcom so my gedcom lives at
c:workfamilyhistory
and all linked items live in sub folders
eg
c:workfamilyhistoryphotos
c:workfamilyhistorycertificates
etc.
This means I can simply copy the whole family history folders somewhere else open the gedcom and FH will work out the relationship by it's self. If it fails the work with links can quickly correct the problem.
As I said Simons help text explains this is some detail.
