CD Creation

Hi, can anyone help please?  I am creating a CD (which I have done several times before) but I am trying to include a tree diagram on this one (which I haven't done before!)  I think the wizard is asking for the tree as an image rather than a saved chart?  However the quality of the saved .jpg files are awful!

Am I missing the plot?  Have been up until the not so wee hours for weeks working on the content of this tree, and it needs to be presented to someone at 6:00pm tonight!!  No pressure...

Thanks!

Linda

I suspect your tree is quite large, so I suggest the the Scale is set to at least 200% to produce a high resolution JPEG to see the details.

Alternatively, use Save Diagram As > PDF File (.pdf) which is immune to the Scale setting, always gives high resolution, is much smaller than a JPEG, and most PDF readers offer good zoom & pan options.

On the Wizard Step 4 – Add Items for Table of Contents use Image for JPEG, and Download for PDF.

Thanks Mike.  I've tried a .jpg but regardless of how large the size when I save the diagram it still comes out illegible when on the CD.  (This is not my own tree, but someone else's that I've been working on - so it isn't huge.  Only 26 ancestors.) I've also tried saving the Ancestors diagram as a PDF, but when I try and open the link from the CD is says 'the webpage is not found'.  Think I'll have to give up on this one for now as time is running out!

Thank again anyway!

Be careful not to confuse Zoom with Scale.
There are two % figures shown in the status bar bottom right.
The left-hand figure is 123% of Zoom.
The right-hand figure says Scale 123% and this should be at least Scale 200%.
Use Diagram > Options > Scaling to adjust.

In the Make Family Tree CD/DVD Wizard Step 4 – Add Items for Table of Contents you must use the Gedcom File or Other Download option (NOT Picture Image), and select the PDF Diagram file, for the Table of Contents link to work.
