Nova PDF

Post by delwoodman » 24 Feb 2013 12:19

I recently updated to FH 5.0.9, which I am running under Windows 7, 64-bit.

I have been trying this morning to print off some charts and reports in PDF. This has worked well under previous versions of v5 although I do not recall which upgrade version of v5 I would have been on when I last used the pdf feature.

When I try and save as pdf from 5.0.9, the computer hangs for a while and eventually I get a Family Historian not responding message.

Family Historian PDF (novaPDF 7.7 printer) appears in my list of programs under control panel. Also, I am perfectly able to print to pdf outside of Family Historian using the FH pdf virtual printer.

I have tried rebooting the computer to no avail. I have not yet tried reinstalling version 5. Before doing so, I am wondering whether anyone else running 5.0.9 is experiencing pdf problems? Apart from the 5.0.9 upgrade I don't recall making any other significant changes to my system (other than Windows and MSE antivirus updates) since I last printed to pdf from FH.

Any thoughts?

Derek

Try installing the Nova PDF printer from the control panel and reinstalling the 5.0.9 upgrade that should refresh the install of NovaPDF.

I suspect Jane means UN-install Nova PDF and then RE-install 5.0.9.

Thanks Jane and Mike for your comments. After my post this morning, I found that I was also getting unusual behaviour with another piece of software so suspect that the fault may have been with an unnoticed and unwanted update of something.

Anyway, having gone back to a system restore point of a few days ago and reinstalled only wanted system updates all is now working as it should.

Thanks again,
Derek
