Help with a query, please

Post by wulliam » 21 Jan 2013 20:00

I'm trying to find all individuals with a certain type of note. Never having used queries before I'm very confused but imagine that a query is probably the way to go.

In short, some ancestors have a note referring to a section number in a book I'm writing. I want to check that they're all correct.

The notes have been entered as follows:

Hopefully that makes sense.

I'd like to know how to get a list of all people with a 'Section' note.

Hoping someone can help.

Create a new individual query

Add the two data references as on your Custom items as columns on the report on the column tab

Then on the Rows tab add a 'Add if' for the first of them, you can use the drop down to select the field and then run the query.

Take a look at http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id ... ng_a_query for a step by step guide to building a basic query.
