Why doesn't colour come thro' in a PDF chart

I've produced an All Gens Pedigree Chart for my wife and I and modified the Diagram>Options to show blue and red to highlight the names of males and females respectively. When I save the diagram as a PDF file and get it to open after saving it appears as black on white. Is there some way I can get it to save the colours as displayed?

Make sure in File>Page Setup you have not ticked Print Text lines and boxes in Black and White
