New Plug ins census years problem

Post by jsphillips » 05 Jul 2012 14:24

Tim Treeby was kind enough to write various Census queries to enable persons at same address in a specific Census year to be brought together.
Tim the 1841 does produce results but yields following data 1 Fact...Census 31 March 1901 ??? also yields some Census occupations.
2 Desciptor...Blank
3 Date 31st March 1901
4 Place addresses

Confusion why it picks up 1901 dates and Descriptor (name) is blank

All the Census 1851-1911 dont produce any data and on looking at them they are not the same as the 1841 fields as above.

Thanks

All the 1851 - 1911 queries work OK for me.

Which version of FH are you using?

I have found that the queries do not work in FH V3.0

The 1841 Query does not follow the pattern of the other seven, and has a 1901 filter.

Use a plain text editor such as Notepad to replace the contents of the 1841 Cenus - in.fhq file with the following:

[Family Historian Query]
VERSION=2.0
TYPE=INDI
DESC=
Shows all the Individual records linked to a given source record.  This is
an alternative to selecting the Source record and using the Record Links me
nu command on the View menu.
.
TITLE='Individuals Linked to Source'
SUBTITLE='%#x'
ORIENTATION=LANDSCAPE
TAG='Individual','INDI',,,125
TAG='1841CENSUS.Source.Where Within Source','INDI.CENS[year=1841].SOUR.PAGE',HIDDEN,ASC,80
TAG='Dates','=LifeDates2(,STD)',,ASC,55
TAG='Relationship','INDI.CENS[year=1841].NOTE2',,,55
TAG='Place','INDI.CENS[year=1841].PLAC',,,126
TAG='Address','INDI.CENS[year=1841].ADDR'
TAG='Where Within Source','INDI.CENS[year=1841].SOUR.PAGE',,,173
TAG='Assessment','INDI.CENS[year=1841].SOUR.QUAY',,,102
FILTER=GEN,ADD,IF,N,'','INDI.CENS[year=1841].SOUR>',,'contains',TEXT,''

New Plug ins census years problem

What serves the purpose of the 1841 census having a 1901 filter ??
The results of 1851-1911 are a complete blank
Nothing is produced only a blank sheet. I have given sufficient time for it to sort
At the moment I use the Records with various fields and click on addresses to sort in that way.
What I wanted was to arrive at a list showing
(a) address
(b) persons names.
(c) census year
sorted by 1 address 2 census year.
I am using 5.06 FH Win 7 64 bit Professional 8GB store processor I7 2600 CPU @ 3.40GHZ Radeon HD 6800.
I have recently changed in the last day to IE9 from IE8 because of the underscore problem.
It seems to work on the 1841 list but produces no desciptors (names) in the column

Sorry about 1841 Census, but i sent you the one that i had been messing around with after i upgraded to Ver5 rather than the proper 1841 one.
But since they are all the same apart from changing year, would be easy enough to recreate correctly, as shown by TateWise. Although left Relationship off the 1841 Census, as not required as relationships wern't shown.
Although i would query that they don't work in ver3 of FH, as i used them when i had ver3 and haven't changed them since i upgraded direct from 3 to 5.
The only reason you would be getting no results that i can see is if you are not recording Census Information the same as me.

I wonder if the problem is that you don't link Source Records via Citations.
In the other thread you said
I only use:-  Date, Age and Place boxes and sources I record under notes
Thus there is no Source Citation, only a Fact Note.

So the Row Filter of Add if %INDI.CENS[year=1871].SOUR[1]>% will never add anything.

The Row Filter should be Exclude if %INDI.CENS[year=1871]% is null

Thanks Tim & Tatewise.
I am not sure when I access my FH query how to save a screen copy so that I can send a copy on line to be checked
To reiterate how I enter my FH data is as follows :
MAIN TAB :
Name I enter name here
Sex I enter here
Occupation: when known I enter here.
Born I enter date as 25 Oct 1938 in Bloggs st Blagdon etc
Died as above
Note: often enter source info here
FACT TAB :
Date as 25 Oct 1939
Fact: I access add fact and select
I enter Date as above ..age where known
Place : address
for example in Census I access Fact..Census Date : Date of Census 30 March 1851
Place census address
age: per census whether right or wrong.
NOTE TAB
only occasionly used.

Could someone please write if I plead nicely the Census Plug in for me so I can register all persons at same address.
I am sure other people would use this as well.
I can then change year within
Thank you

New Plug ins census years problem

I seem to be a complete idiot !!
I am once again confusing queries and plug ins.
All my previous comments relate to queries.
If I do not enter a Source does a whole query not work or only the part that does not relate to that. ie INDI% will still produce a list of individuals although subsequent lines do not work ?
I love this package and have recommended many people to buy it.
Obviously every person will use it in a different way and expect to get different results for their requests.
I just wonder if the queries written do not work an error message could be produced showing what is not input or correct
Thanks

It is just that the particular queries you obtained from Tim require you to be using sources. As you don't use sources the queries won't work so you will need to edit them. Tatewise is suggesting that for them to work for you, you will need to edit the filter (e.g. for the 1871 census) by changing the Add if %INDI.CENS[year=1871].SOUR[1]>%
to be an Exclude if %INDI.CENS[year=1871]%

You do not need to click the Insert image icon.
That is for when you want to include an image file whose web address you know somewhere else on the Internet.

After clicking the Upload Image File ... link, and Browsing to your image and submitting it, you should reach this window:

Image

You then need to Click to insert Code and Close Window.
