Installing FH V5

Post by aragorn » 28 Mar 2012 14:48

I have FH V4.1 installed and have just received my V5 disc.
Do I uninstall V4.1 before installing V5 or can I install 'over the top' as it were?

Installing FH V5

I had two questions, this thread answered the first. The second is if I install full disc version of V5 over the top of V4 I now have a spare boxed set of Version 4 and darling daughter does not have FH at all.
As they are both paid for and V4 will not be on either of my mc's is it ok for me to install it on her 2 pc's?

I would say 'Yes' as V4 and V5 are two separate Full Licences.

But bear in mind that exchanging Project folder databases, and Customised settings, may encounter difficulties since not all V5 features are supported by V4.

That's a good point Mike but probably one that should not cause us too many problems as darling daughter will be mainly updating Ancestry.com and using FH as Read Only.
Thanks for your thoughts re use of V4.
