standard queries

I have run a standard query report for a list of ancestors. However I wish to slightly edit it before printing. If I save it as text file or a .rtf I find that I can edit it. However I like the format of the pdf file - especially the way the photos are displayed - as it looks so much more professional for printing. is there any way I can edit it as a pdf file?
Would be grateful for any suggestions.

I presume you are talking about a report? You can't easily edit PDFs as they are designed as print ready output.

If you are only wanting to edit sentences, don't forget you can edit any sentence against any fact.

Another option is to save as an HTML file which may be easier to edit using word.

If it is mainly the position of the photos you want to adjust to the right of the text, then it can be done in the RTF using Word.
However, the edit has to be repeated on each photo, and if you have a lot of ancestors may take some time.
I am not sure if the edit could automated, perhaps with a macro.

These notes work for Word 2007 - earlier or later versions may be different.
Anyway, the edit involves changing the Properties of the Table that holds the photos.
Left-click in the margin near the photo to highlight the table.
Right-click on the highlighted table and choose Table Properties from bottom of list.
Select the Table tab and set Alignment = Right and Text Wrapping = Around.
Select the Column tab and set Preferred width = 6 cm (more or less).
Click OK and the photo should align to right margin and the text wrap around to the left.

Hope that helps.
If you are using Word 2007 or later you can also save it as a PDF file.

Sorry there is one more step I forgot to include.

Right-click on the highlighted table and choose Cell Alignment and from the 9 options choose Align Top Right

Many thanks for the suggestions. I had forgotten that I can alter the words in a sentence for the facts - so thank you for that reminder. Also interesting information about the pictures. Will give it a go.
Thank you for excellent advice - as usual.
