SAVING WITHOUT NOTES

Post by SNOWYOWL » 25 Jan 2011 20:53

Hi

I want to download my tree to Genes Reunited but I have a lot of notes which I do not want to share at the moment. Is there anyone who knows how to get rid of the notes in one go so i can save the tree without them. thank you in anticipation.

The Split Tree Helper can be used on a copy of or export from your master GEDCOM file.  It has options to Delete all Note Records and to Delete all note fields within records.

SAVING WITHOUT NOTES

Hi Snowyowl,

The members here have written a good article on this. I found it by clicking on the 'How To's' (left hand side, under Main Menu) and then typing in Genes in the search.

I have a tree in Genes (an one in Ancestry) which just includes direct ancestors, just to allow initial contact. I 'publish' the rest of the stuff on my own website using both FH4 and Gedmills web site creation routines. I have about 15,000 people on there and get about 5 or 6 hits a day according to Google Analytics. And in the year or so it has been up I have had the grand total of 2 emails from it!

Good luck with your researches

Chris
