toolbar icon question

Post by BillH » 20 Aug 2010 01:35

I was wondering what the icon under the toolbar that looks like a pen drawing on a piece of paper and whose popup description says 'create census entries' does. It is probably described in the help somewhere, but I couldn't find it.

Thanks!

Hi Bill,

I'm pretty sure this is a reflection of the fact that ancestral sources is going to grow in the future. If you look to the right of this icon there others, greyed out, referring to baptisms, marriages deaths etc. The only active one currently is censuses hence the pen & paper is 'live'.

I guess in future as Nick develops the programme the others will light up to give you the relevant choices!!

More power to Nick's elbow I say... and many thanks to him for developing such a useful tool as AS is now.... and the future promises even more [grin]

Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris and Nick,

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'm still a little confused though. Do I actually have to click on this icon (button) to create the census entries before I click on save?

Thanks!

No. In future versions time you will be able to choose which type of source you want to create. e.g. you'll click on the marriage icon and the screen will change to show various text boxes to enter marriage information. If you later wanted to enter a census source you would click on the census icon and then the screen would change to show the screen that you use now. So effectively the current version is stuck in census mode so the census icon doesn't do anything as you're already in census mode, i.e. the census button doesn't do anything so ignore it :)
