Survey on the use of genealogical charts
I'm a student of the University of Strathclyde completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogy. I'm currently researching the use of graphical representations to display and explore genealogical data. As part of this I'm conducting an online survey with various groups of genealogists to collect information on the current use of genealogical charts, explore any perceived issues with them and to explore reactions to two new approaches.
If you wish to take part in the survey, it is available at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/S88WJT2. It should take 15-20 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous. The survey will remain open to 6 June 2010.
Jane Taubman has very kindly given me permission to post this message but neither Jane or the FHUG are otherwise connected with the research.
Thank you for your co-operation.

Survey on the use of genealogical charts
Andy,
I followed your link which just seems to go to the home page of SurveyMonkey, without any indication of how to find your survey.
Any clues?
Regards,
maggie

I was sure I had posted thanks to you for the new link - obviously forgot to hit the 'Send Message' button [oops]
Anyway, I successfully followed the link and completed your survey. Like the others I liked the time line and the interactive fan chart.
Will you be reporting back on any of you findings?
Regards,
maggie

The survey has now closed. Thank you to everyone who contributed, especially those who added detailed comments. These were very helpful!
Several people have asked whether the results will be published. I haven't yet decided how best to do this, but I will post a message once a summary is ready. I now need some time to analyse the survey in detail (best summarised at the moment as 'opinions differ'), and to complete my dissertation.
Thanks again!
