Displaying relations

Post by BROCKET » 20 May 2010 05:50

When I open the all relatives diagramme it only shows my side of the family and not my wifes sister's children, my nephews and nieces or my mother and father in law.

If I switch to an all relatives diagramme for my wife it doesn't show my side, ie her nephews and nieces that are my brothers children.

Why is this? Is there a box somewhere that I have clicked? I have made myself the root person in case this was the cause but it makes no difference, it still will not show them as relatives.

Any help appreciated.

You need to select both yourself & your wife, then choose all relatives diagram. One way is to choose yourselves together on the families tab then choose all relatives diagram. Or select yourself on a diagram, press control & select your wife , then all relatives diagram.

epj. I did as you suggested and it worked fine. I used your suggestion of selecting myself from a diagramme etc.

I wonder if there will be an update that ensures that an 'All relatives' diagramme is exactly that, one that shows all relatives?

The All Relatives diagram shows all people related to you by Blood and their spouses.

As you have discovered you can centre the diagram on a couple to show both persons relations, or if you have children you can centre the diagram on them.

Remember of you want to show even less related people, eg sisters spouses parents you can add another diagram to your chart for that.
