Nick

I've been getting to know the programme by running a test Project.  In the UK 1901 Census, when the field for 'Employer, Worker or Own account' is left blank, the resulting Occupation Note field contains 'Employer, Worker or Own account: ' while when a value is entered it shows 'Employer, Worker or Own account: .  This sort of note is interfering with my sentence structure.  I can't see any way to turn it off.  Is this possible or preferably can there be an option to insert the note in Double Square Brackets in a future version?

Hi John

You do have some control over this but not down to the level of the double brackets, etc.

If you take a look at the template editor and select the country and year (UK 1901 in this case) then select one of the columns you have an issue with, you can can change it to not record this data. There is also the option to not record the data if blank.

Hope this helps

Nick

Nick

Thanks.  Further searching found the appropriate section to edit.  Excellent!  For the moment, I have added the additional List Items of Employer, Worker and Own Account, each in Double Square Brackets.  This edit has created an additional template for the same year.  Is this correct?  I was expecting it to replace the existing one.

I would like to suggest for your consideration an additional Recording option of 'Append to Citation Note'

No that shouldn't happen. Perhaps we can take this discussion off the forum for now. Would you be able to email me your settings.xml file which should be in your Ancestral Sources folder in 'My Documents' (There's an option to email me in the Help menu).

I'll add it to the 'wish list'

Cheers
