When adding a child in the property box I add name, sex and date of birth but find it frustrating that I have to then select the person to add where born, why cant this be shown when adding the child details in first view, or am I missing something here?

Probably to keep the Child entries tidy, if you tab forward from the birth date to the Blue arrow you can then press enter to jump to the Property box for the child.
If you use the focus window or the diagram to add the child the property box will jump direct to the child's Property box so you can enter everything at once.

Thanks for the reply Jane, not sure what you mean by ' if you tab forward from the birth date to the Blue arrow you can then press enter to jump to the Property box for the child'
However I understand the focus window option, might give that a try.
Just another quick question, I haven't found any quick way to search for possible merges, in Family Tree Maker that i used before had a simple option to search for all possible merges.

When you enter the data on the child entry property box, you press the tab key after you enter each field to move to the next field, so if you keep tabbing you get to the blue arrow, pressing enter will move the property box to the child.
There is not an actual search for merge on FH, but you can use queries to assist with the job, by sorting the records and grouping them, I think part of the reason it's not made it in so far is that the merge compare at import is better (provided you allow enough time) at showing exactly what it's going to do compared with FTM (although I have not used FTM since 2005)

Right, understand now, hadn't used the tab key before, still think it isn't much help, but have now tried the Focus window method and it certainly helps.
Shame there isn't a simple possible merges option as I have just loaded my GEDCOM file back into FTM2005 and ran the possible merges option and found three that I could merge.
So looks like I will just have to do that until a merge option is included in a future update perhaps.
Many thanks for the info.

If you know they are merges, just select the two records and use the Edit/Merge Records option to merge them.
The only difference to FTM is FH does not suggest merges.
