Installing V4 on Windows 7

Post by melagbe » 20 Dec 2009 15:35

Hi

Merry Christmas to everyone.

My problem might have been already covered, but I can't find it ;-).
I used to have an XP laptop which I am now passing on to my son, so I can use a new windows 7 netbook.

I have downloaded version 4 no problems, but when I want to save my custom facts sets, queries etc, that are still in the application folder on XP, I cant find where they go on windows 7.
Or do I just export them from xp and send via email and then import on W7? (But I would still like to know where they are saved!
I dont use the projects folder. I have my own filing system.

Thanks

Mel

Sorry if there is a very obvious answer.

http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id ... e_settings will tell you where to find the settings on XP (if you don't already know).

FH's program data under Windows 7 is in the sub-directories C:\Program Data\Calico Pie\Family Historian.  C:\Program Data is hidden by default so you may need to unhide it.

Thanks for that Cole Valley Girl.

Yes totally forgot about hidden files in the windows 7 for a moment. It was easily done, and everything is as it should be.
