When I wish to add a photograph I usually click on 'Add' on the Focus Window > Pictures. I then locate the photograph in question which is in an unconnected to FH folder/file > Open
A box then appears and I 'copy' the media file into the Project Folder. The Destination folder (if copying) is 'Default'.
By doing this it opens Miltimedia window but not always within the right project.
I haven't been doing this for very long (just discovered adding photographs). I would like to set up specific photograph folders under Family Historian with sub folders for each project. The copy box gives you the option instead of Default to let me choose.
To tidy things up and get things in the right place can anyone please advise where to find these copied photograph multimedia records folder so that I can move the photographs over to the newly created folders. If you know what I mean.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you. Linda

I have dealt with the strange chars, they are caused by you typing the message in Word which uses fancy quotes this forum software does not like.
If you copy media to the project folders it will be placed in media with in the project folder.
When you select let me choose you can create sub folders with in the media section, using the new folder button.
See [wiki]how_to:organise_your_files[/wiki] for my suggestion for sub folders.
Note the above was written before V4 was available.

How do I find the Multimedia Records Folder
Good Morning Jane, thank you for responding.
I spent lots of time yesterday afternoon adding photographs to my two projects. Just love the way you get faces on your focus window so you can see who you are working with.
Got myself a bit confused about the workings of FH. I thought that I would have to have a separate folder for my media. However I discovered, as you point out, that when you copy photographs to the default location there is an actual multimedia folder within each each project.
I proved this this morning by copying one of the projects and installing it onto my second (backup) computer. Pictures were all there.
In this respect all is now clear.
Kind regards - Linda
