FHv4 and system restore (vista)

Post by jonnyconny » 11 May 2009 11:23

Just to let you all know of my experience this weekend - it may be a bug or may be me! Anyway..

I installed FH4 on release and set up 2 projects and used it no problems. However, having problems with my network I did a system restore back to before FH4 was installed. This appeared to cause the total loss of my FH4 projects and all my data/multimedia files. I had of course done a full backup so it didnt give me a real problem. This could however be a warning for all...

It's probable the projects were still there, but doing a system restore cleared the list of projects from the registry.

Try checking your my documents section for the folder and opening the project files from there.

I did a full file search on the hard drive and they had completly gone. I reinstalled FH4 and used my backup files from disc so no problems for me. This was just a warning to others in case there is a little bug hidden away!

I don't think it's an FH bug as such sounds more of a Vista 'Feature'

FHv4 and system restore (vista)

I have created a virtual drive 'D:' and use this drive to store all my files. This then lets me system restore as much as I want.
I can even restore system to factory default without affecting any of my files
