Reports from scratch

Post by quarlton » 13 Mar 2004 09:39

Is it possible to build a custom report from scratch?

So far I have only managed to create a custom report based on an existing one.

I would like to build one so that I have control over everything on the page.

For example, I would like to add 'Custom Id' to the same line as 'Father'  and for 'Mother'.

At present I have to show the names and codes on separate lines.

I don't think you can do this currently with in Family Historian, how ever since it uses GedCom you may be able to use GEDReporter, which is freeware to get what you want from your FH files.

http://www.webpan.com/DoutBerg/software/gedreporter/

It has a full blown scripting language and may give you what you need. Please let me know how you get on as I have not had time to play with it fully.

Hi Jane

Again thanks for the response.
I will give GedReporter a try.

Jane,

Thank you so much for mentioning this program. Its not for the faint hearted, but if (like me) you are confident hacking around with Visual Basic its the perfect tool for manipulating your GEDCOM file.

For me, this and Family Historian provide probably everything I will ever need [smile]
