Results Set Record Selection

Post by dbidgood » 13 May 2008 19:38

In a Results Set produced by a Custom Query I would like to be able to highlight a particular name and display the Property Dialogue or Tree for that person.

Left click on the name places a black border around it, but I have been unable to find any click or keystroke combination  which takes the process further. A right click produces a small inset box with the text .

Am I missing something or is this an item for the Wish List?

Don.

Just make sure you include the record level in one of the columns eg %INDI%, that way you can double click to open the property dialogue or select it and click on the diagram button for a diagram.

Results Set Record Selection

I reported this exact situation as a bug in Feb 2007.
Version: 3.1.1

Synopsis: If 'Individual' is not a column in a query, then records in the result set can't be selected.

Description: This is closely related to the issue of allowing the whole line to be selectable which is one of my wish lists. If a user creates a query and doesn't use Individual as one of the column (say they use Name instead), then they can't select any records. Basically the query becomes useless. For a naive user, not including 'Individual' could be quite likely since they won't know that it's a special column. They will then waste time as they work out that they need Individual as one of the columns. Rather than force Individual to always be a column, the whole line should be clickable to edit the properties of the person.
