As a new user I am very pleased with the FH programme, and have already designed my own custom report for individuals and printed some reports out.
Now comes the crunch..in tweaking my custom report I have lost the 'Notes on Individual' section at the bottom, and try as I might I can't find a way of getting it back.
It can only be a simple tick in a box somewhere, but I've tried searching the forums and 'help' without success. Any suggestions you may have will be gratefully received.

Individual reports - Notes missing! Help please!
Display your report, click 'Options' button in column to right of report. Select the 'Contents' tab and in the 'Sections' block put a tick against 'Individual Record Notes'
Individual reports - Notes missing! Help please!
Gerry, Thanks for that, unfortunately it didn't work as it was already set up as you suggested. The problem seems to be in the notes records.
When I look at notes the 'N' in the box shows 'no text', and when clicked on, the next box down: 'text' has nothing in it, the box below this is a 'sun' with 'note' against it - this shows my original notes.
When I cut and paste the note from 'note' to 'text' it then appears in my custom report. Can you help me to correct this or do I need to cut and paste all of my notes?
Thanks in advance Barry

Firstly, did you create your database through FH or have you imported your data from another program? If the later then the problem is due to the way the other program has exported it's data.
If the former, then is sounds like you've edited the Gedcom file manually and changed 'NOTE' to 'note'. This is for local notes which are held inside the individual's record and not note records which can be shared between other records.
The 'sun' symbol is the indicator for a UDF (Uncategorised Data Field). A UDF is a section of a record which FH does not understand. FH does not delete these unrecognised fields, but neither can it use them. Look in the help for more information about UDFs.
No matter what the cause, the solution is to edit the file manually and change every occurance of the sequence of characters '1 note' to '1 NOTE'. If any characters follow the 1 NOTE, keep them including any space after the NOTE. The important thing is that NOTE should be in UPPERCASE.
If the characters following the NOTE are in the format @N9999@ where 9999 is a number then it's the ID of the note record and there should be a corresponding 0 @N9999@ NOTE later in the file. If the characters following the NOTE is a note then this is a local note.
Hope that helps sort out your problem.

Thanks for your help. I imported my data from PAF as a Gedcom 5.5 file, and when I printed my first individual report the notes appeared under 'Notes on Individual' at the bottom of the report just as I expected.
However, somewhere I have done something to cause the imported notes to become uncategorised data 'en bloc' and the notes now show under the 'notes' tab in record window which they did not do before.
As I am just starting with FH it will not be a problem to re-import the data and start again. I am more concerned to find out what I did to cause the problem, so that I do not make the same mistake twice, when it may not be so easy to reload the data.
Obviously I will be making back-ups but......
Many thanks.
