Hiding living relatives

Post by doppelganger » 27 Jan 2007 09:57

Hi,

Is there a simple way to hide living relatives, but not hide dead relatives without a death date entered.

Is it possible to enter a code on the lines of 'death date unknown' rather than creating queries or saving various versions of chart.

Thanks
Alan

In V3
You can use the estimatedageat function to find everyone over 100 and then set the living flag.

Where are you trying to hide them from?

Hi

Thanks for the reply. If I set the flag for say 100 years, and I export the Gedcom to another program. Will this work ok?

You need to use the split tree to make a file to send deleting everyone with the living flag set.

It depends where you want to use it. If, for example, you wanted another column in the main records window for an individual you could:
  • Right click on the Records window and select 'Columns...' or 'Configure Columns...' (depends on where you click).
  • In the 'Configure Columns' dialogue that appears, scroll to the bottom of the left hand list and double-click
  • Make the heading something like 'Estiamted Age Today' and the Expression:

    =EstimatedAgeAt(%INDI%, Today(), MIN)
This will show the likely minimum age today for each person.

Other possibilities are:

=EstimatedAgeAt(%INDI%, Today(), MAX)

(maximum likely age)

=EstimatedAgeAt(%INDI%, Today(), AVG)

(halfway between the max and the min)

or something different like:

=EstimatedAgeAt(%INDI%, Date(1901), MAX)

Maximum likely age in 1901.

Have a look at the help file that comes with Family Historian for more details.

Regards
