Currently, when the gedcom file being worked on is updated externally (say by GEDCOM Census) the record being worked on is unselected. The Properties dialog is blanked and the 'go back/forward' buttons greyed.
This can make the integration of FH and GEDCOM Census awkward.
The current selected record could be stored in the registry and when FH detects that the gedcom file is updated it could 'reselect' that record keeping it current.
Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes of coding [grin]

I agree that this would be a really good feature.
I note the smiley and I agree that when you first think about it, it seems an easy feature for Calico to add. However, Family Historian has to consider all the other things you could be doing, e.g. you might be editing a diagram, creating a query, adding an image, editing a source, etc. There is also the possibility that the indivudal/source/image, etc. that is currently selected has been deleted.Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes of coding

Even 15 minutes of coding needs testing to check it hasn't caused any strange effects elsewhere in the program.

Thank you Jane.
