information about places

Post by vickyh » 05 Aug 2006 21:29

I was wondering if anyone had any tips for ways of incorporating information about a place.

I thought it would be nice to include descriptions from things like White's Directory about villages where my ancestors come from. But I'm not sure of the best way of doing this.
Thanks

One possibility is to use a shared note, which can be attached to the people you want it on. That way if you are doing a narrative report you can turn the note off and add it at the end. If your ancestors are like mine they lived in one place for generations and you would not want the information repeated for 30 people in one report.

Another option is to attach the note to a source and the source to the people and let FH 'combine' the information into the source section of the report.

I have created 'Location' sources with excerpts from Directories etc and I have attached photos of the towns, churches etc.
