Transferring query files between two PCs

Post by Marpag » 24 Mar 2006 23:37

I have FH set up on two computers: desktop and laptop. Depending on which PC I'm using to update FH files, I then transfer the data to the other PC using a memory stick.

If I write a custom query, I can't see where that file is to transfer. I've looked in the Queries folder within the FH folder but it's not there. It doesn't get embedded within the FH data file because I wouldn't have this problem. I've tried searching using the Windows search facility but that yields no results. Is there a way to do this?

Regards, Martin.

You will find it in C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataCalico PieFamily HistorianQueriesCustom.

Other custom items such as custom text schemes or reports are in similar folders under C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataCalico PieFamily Historian.

Transferring query files between two PCs

Thanks Dave. I got down as far as All Users but couldn't find Application Data. It turned out I had to 'unhide' it to find the continuing folder path. That's why the search couldn't locate the file - it was hidden. When I retried the search to show hidden files and folders, there it was.

Cheers, Martin.

In V3, there are options to import and export custom queries etc, which makes this process much easier.
