Which records to a source?

Post by Marpag » 26 Feb 2006 19:16

I need to tidy up some of my sources. All my censuses have been entered using the Gedcom Census Editor (GCE) and consequently I have some misccellaneous pre-GCE census sources, e.g. 'U.K. Census 1881', which I'd like to clear out. My immediate reaction would be just to delete these superfluous sources as the correct census (via GCE) is in there in any case. However, to be on the safe side I'd like to see what records these sources relate to. How do I go about knowing what Individuals' records relate to which sources?

Cheers, Marpag.

Marpag,
Start by looking at the source page by clicking on its label along the top of the record window. If the source label is not showing go to 'tools - Record window options' and then alter the record window display options to show sources as 'always show'.
Now highlight the source you are interested in eg UK census 1881 and then go to 'view' and then 'record links' and you will see a list of records using that source.
I hope that I have made that clear.

Just to add while the list is displayed there is an icon on the bottom left which allows you to save the results to a named list, so you can work through them deleting from the list as you go.
