familysearch.org problem?

Post by ganstey » 14 Feb 2006 11:33

Is anyone else having problems with familysearch.org? I'm getting DNS lookup failures. I don't think its anything local to me as all other sites appear to be working.[cry]

familysearch.org problem?

I did a bit of digging around last night, and it would appear that they have been having problems. Apparently at one point a few days ago, it could only be accessed from the west coast of America. There have been reports of it being up and then disappearing again. There's no official reason given, so I guess we'll just have to hope its sorted now.

familysearch.org problem?

I had this problem using Tiscali.  They advised that The FamilySearch people have updated their DNS address. However, this has not yet been updated on Tiscali's DNS servers.  The updated DNS Address is 204.9.225.200.  Simply insert that ip address in the address bar of your IE browser to open the FamilySearch Web site. Hope this helps

Thanks for that Malcolm. I think the problem is fixed (for me at least) now, but its interesting to know the cause, and a workaround, should I have problems again.
