sorry if this has already been covered earlier but I found I could search for wills on line via Documents on line, part of the National Archives website.
The url is http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/docu ... #searching.
We had an ancestor who we knew was a tailor in Tottenham ( because we had a wedding certificate of his son) but by the 1851 Census his wife was shown as being a Widow. However we couldnt find a death certificate for him.
However entering the Full name into the search engine produced a number of possibilities one of whom was a tailor in Tottenham amd had his will proved in 1848.
For a fee of £3.50 I was able to download the entry in the register which seems to be a copy of what was written in his will. this confirmed that it was the right person because it mentioned his wife and a close friend who his widow later married!.
The File is an adobe PDF file and whilst some parts were legible most of it wasmnt so it may be necessary to make a trip to the national archives in Kew to try and read the entry properly.
