External file links

I am having trouble fixing broken multimedia links.
Earlier this year I created a dropbox to back up my FH project and I am now unsure as to where I should be 're-mapping' the links to.
The file path at the top of the 'Work with external file links' is:-

c:usersrobertdropboxfamily historian projectsall relatives smith familyall relatives smith family.fh_dataall relatives smith family.ged

so this seems to indicate the 'Dropbox' folders but when I highlight the broken link and point it to this location nothing happens.
Within my Projects 'Media' folder I have folders for all the Censuses and store my pictures and certificates under just the Media folder but I cannot remap to either.
I have looked on the Forum for help but couldn't find anything. i am sure it is a simple fix but just can't seem to find it.
Help please.

The file path at the top of the Work with External File Links window is simply the Current Tree File path of your GEDCOM .ged data file.

What is important is the File Links path below for each Multimedia file.
Every path should be listed under Project Data Folder - Media.
Your Picture and Certificate images should be listed there directly.
Your Census images should be listed below the Censuses folders below that Media folder.

If any images are listed under C: - Users - Robert then they need to be Re-mapped within Project Data Folder using the Re-Map button.

Note that Re-mapping cannot move files, it simply changes the Multimedia Record links to the files.
The files themselves must be moved using Windows Explorer.

Mike
Thank you for that.
The File Links box starts with a
Project Data File
Media
1841 Census
1851 Census etc for all UK Censuses
I have only a few isolated census records with an 'X' through them that I cannot seem to re-map.
All of my photos, certicates etc just sit in the 'Media' folder and all of those have an 'X' through them and I cannot re-map those.
Am I missing something?

From what you say I assume there are no entries in the File Links that start with C: - Users -

Therefore, each X means FH cannot locate the associated image filename in the Media folder or sub-folder listed.

In your case the Media folder is at:
C:UsersRobertDropboxFamily Historian Projectsall relatives smith familyall relatives smith family.fh_dataMedia

Check with Windows Explorer that your image files are actually in the correct Media folder where you expect them to be.

Re-Map cannot move image files, it can only change the path that FH uses to link to files.
If the path does not exist, or the file does not exist, then FH and Re-Map cannot fix that.
