changing pictures in diagram
I have produced a family tree with photographs and I want to change one of them. The photo I now want to use is already in the multimedia file. I cannot get them to change. I have even tried unlinking all the other photos for that person in the file, but still the unwanted one appears. I have tried closing and re-opening FH, which does not change anything. The photo I want will appear in a new diagram, but I really don't want the hassle of redoing everything. Does anyone have any ideas? I am running FH4.1.3
Many thanks

Thanks for that Chris, but I have done that and it didn't make any difference. In fact I removed all the other photos linked to that person so that there was only the one I wanted left. It is quite mysterious!

Thanks for taking an interest in my problem Chris. The ALL tab just contains the picture that I want to insert.

Which chart is it that you have done (e.g. ancestors, descendants etc.) for the tree.
Is is a saved chart within FH of have you saved it as a jpg or png?

It is a descendants chart and it's saved within FH.

Sorry, how did you save it?
(I'm on V5 so yours may seem a little different)

I clicked on 'save diagram' (not save diagram as ...) and a box came up for me to put a title, which I did. It is saved as a Chart accessible from the View menu.

Well I'm out of options. When I change the preference, a different picture is shown.
The box in the diagram is definitely the person you want - you haven't accidently added a duplicate?

Let me have a try.
With the Chart open, double-click on the Individual Box that is displaying the wrong photo in the Chart.
In the Property Box that opens, select the Multimedia tab, and check the list of Media at the top.
For the photo that you want to appear in the Chart, answer these questions:
What Frmt is it? Should be a popular image format such as jpeg, but not pdf or doc.
What Pref is it? It should be preference 1. If not, then click +* or -* until it is 1.
What Flags are set? None should appear with crosses through them. If they do, then click Edit and untick Exclude from Diagrams.

Hello Tatewise, I have tried what you suggest. When I click on the individual box on the family tree that has the wrong picture showing, the property box comes up. When I then click on Multimedia it shows only one photo (the one I want!!) which is preference 1 and jpeg. There are no flags. Strange??

Val ~ Any yet the Chart Diagram for that Individual Box continues to display some other unrelated photo??
In the Property Box on the Multimedia tab, does the wanted photo display OK in the lower pane?
Is this the case for all of the Show Thumbnails and Show Face button modes?
Does this photo use the Link to Face/Frame feature?
i.e. If you click Edit and Select Frame, is a wire Frame rectangle shown on the photo?
Back in the Chart Descendant Diagram have you used Default settings, or is this a customised Diagram?
If customised, what sort of customisations have been applied, because you say a new standard Diagram does display the photo you want, so perhaps the customisations are the problem.

Well you were right Tatewise, it was something to do with the picture being a face on another photograph. I solved the problem by deleting all media, unlinking Eileen from her parents and children then reinserting the photo I wanted and linking her up again. For some reason it would not work while she was still connected to the main tree.
Thanks for your help
Val.
