Post by tatewise » 26 Jul 2011 16:30

Launch Ancestral Sources Data Entry has been updated to V1.1 in the Plugin Store.

This version adds the following new features:
1) Improved Plug-in GUI window style and layout.
2) Preserved 'sticky' Plug-in GUI window position and settings per Project.
(Note for Nick Walker: includes hidden radio button to select Close on 'Save Entry to File' option)
3) Extra GUI for when Ancestral Sources cannot be found that :-
   a) Caters for Ancestral Sources installed in a non-default folder.
   b) Provides web links to Ancestral Sources download and advice pages.

Launch Ancestral Sources Data Entry V1.1

I have just uploaded Launch Ancestral Sources Data Entry V1.3 but it is now no longer listed in the public Plugin Store.

I can access it in Protected Mode if I login.

This version enhances the way sticky settings are saved in multiple PC environments.
Local sticky settings, such as GUI window position and A.S. installation folder, are saved using the %COMPUTERNAME% environment variable.
Thus if the Plugin settings file is transferred from PC to PC, these settings are remembered with respect to each PC.

Following your original suggestion about updating plugins, when you change the source code or otherwise edit the plugin it reverts to unapproved.

I've had it approved for you.

Thank you Jane.
FYI:
Following the Edit, there was no indication that the Plugin was being approved.
Also the public Browse all Plugins page said There are currently 21 approved plugins (0 unapproved).
Whereas, perhaps it should have said ... (1 unapproved).

I understand this could be tricky, but could the previous approved version remain available for public download until he edited version is approved?
Otherwise, Plugins that may be mentioned elsewhere, will disappear from the Plugin Store from time to time if they are updated.
Alternatively, perhaps the Plugin could be greyed-out in the Plugin Store while being approved.

It's unlikely a plugin will disappear for long, as emails are sent to support when they are added.

One way would be to prevent editing so you would need to add a replacement entry, but it was felt this would also lose comments and ratings and be counter productive as well as breaking links.

The unapproved count does seem to work, so it's possible you had a cached page.

I don't think it was cached page, because the count of approved plugins had gone down to 21.
The count went back up to 22 when the plugin became approved.

Could the unapproved plugins still appear in the list, but with the Download inhibited in some way?

I have just repeated the above submission process with Launch Ancestral Sources Data Entry Plugin V1.4 with the same effect.
The Browse all Plugins page originally said There are currently 23 approved plugins (0 unapproved).
After the submission it insisted on saying There are currently 22 approved plugins (0 unapproved).
This was in both Internet Explorer and Firefox even after refreshing the page several times.
Also at this time I had submitted the Change Any Fact Tag Plugin V1.0 Beta.
Therefore, there should have been (2 unapproved) Plugins!

Yes, my Firefox browser reports 23 approved plugins (1 unapproved) this morning too.
The extra approved one is my Change Any Fact Tag V1.0 Beta plugin.
The unapproved one is my Launch Ancestral Sources Data Entry V1.4 plugin.
Maybe the approved count is automatic, but the unapproved count requires manual updating, and has to wait until someone reviews the situation.
