* Custom text scheme changed in export

Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

Custom text scheme changed in export

Post by garethglyn » 26 Sep 2009 11:37

I installed v4 on my laptop (it's already on my PC), then did an export-import of the gedcom file.  All seemed well until I noticed a slight difference in the diagram view - just one word in the custom scheme for Deaths had been changed!

I have set up a custom scheme which displays the boxes in Welsh (the first language of my family, and of practically everybody in the tree), so the phrase for 'died..on...in...of' etc obviously requires different words for all these text strings. Well in this case, just one - the word for 'in' - was changed back to English in the export/import, but the others were untouched.

Changing it back was no problem at all, of course, but I'm stumped as to how this might have happened, especially as I suspect FH text schemes are outside of Gedcom in any case.

Puzzled, Gareth

Just use the Export/Text Scheme option to export your text scheme and import it to your other computer.

You can do the same for you Fact Sets if you have customised those as well.

Also check to see if you have over-ridden at the fact level on a person, rather than at the fact set level?

Thanks, Jane, for putting me on the right track.

Odd, though, that *some* of the translated words came through unscathed.
