Post by jsphillips » 25 Aug 2012 14:21

In Family statistices it says there are 436 records
To see these I went to queries Family list by record it lists 445.
How do I find this difference ??
Thanks

The other weird thing if I import the GED file into family treemaker 2012 it lists 426.
Maybe if I import it into Rootsmagic there may be another different count ??

In the Focus Window or the Records Window the bottom right status bar Families: entry gives number of Records.
The File > File Statistics menu bar command also shows the same Family Records count.
The Custom Query Family_List_by_Record_ID lists the same Family Records and the bottom right status bar Records in Result Set entry gives number of Records.

Perhaps what you are looking at is the Ref column on the left that shows Record Id.
Record Id are allocated sequentially, but if any Family Record is deleted then its Record Id is removed and only re-used in special commands.
So the largest Record Id will often be larger than the number of Records.

Thank you Mike I can now see 9 missing/deleted records showing the difference between Records 436 Stats 436 but 445 numbered sets.
Is there any way of renumbering these so that the gaps are closed ??
Thanks
John

You can simply use the Tools>Work With Record Identifiers to renumber the Family records, but personally I would not bother, as it makes no difference to the system, and I prefer my numbers to stay the same.
