After begging a number of relatives for family photos, I now have a growing collection of them - up until now I had very few. I'm now wondering what is the best way of using and organising these and was wondering if anyone here had any advice or is willing to share what methods they use.

I know FH handles pictures quite well, but generally speaking it is not very user friendly for viewing them (IMHO). I have started a web site using TNG which organises photos very well. I also have the problem of naming the photos on the PC and organising them efficiently.

My initial thoughts are to just put a 'token' picture of each person into FH for easy identification and use my web site, which is better suited to multimedia, to display the rest. Has anyone else tried this approach?

Finally, file naming. I started by putting 'SURNAME, FORENAME, XX' where XX was a unique identifier and creating a subdirectory for each SURNAME. Trouble is, photos with more than one person (with different surnames) end up in only one folder and family group photos are a nightmare to name and track. Any suggestions most gratefully received!

I am surprised you you don't like all the facility's for highlighting people in FH.

What I do for TNG is to run the file through my converter and then upload to TNG, the gedcom and the converted photographs.
