Charts & Diagram lines.

Post by Viper1812 »

Hello
Not sure if there is already a thread answer for this. When i view my everyone chart i have coloured lines, showing that there are multiple people of the same name. However when i check my records list i only find one persons details so unable to merge them. I have attached a screen shot showing what i mean. Hope someone can help me figure it out.

They are not multiple individuals, but multiple relationships.

They indicate that the same person is linked in different ways, usually by relatives marrying.

Roger, that is a common question.
I don't think that is an Everyone Diagram because it says Relatives of Roger MASON at the top.
So it is actually an All Relatives diagram.

They are not duplicated people, but the same people in different family groups.
The coloured ribbons link those same people together to show they appear twice in the diagram.
It is often caused by marriages between cousins or some other odd relationships.
In this case, it looks like Elizabeth MOSS is the child of several family couples
The Elizabeth MATCH & William MOSS partnership couples look a bit unusual.
There is one box with no name and another with just Elizabeth and both are parents of Elizabeth MOSS.

You need to review those families and check that the correct children are linked to the correct parents.

The Elizabeth MATCH Property Box Main tab will have several Spouse tabs.
Are they all valid partners/spouses? i.e. Check each tab represents the actual family relationships.
Is Elizabeth MOSS meant to be a Child on each of those Spouse tabs?
i.e. Are some parents Birth parents and others Foster/Adoptive parents?

Until you are sure what the required family relationships should be, we cannot advise any corrections.

It may be that the coloured ribbons cannot be removed, other than by hiding them all.
