Individual Narrative report

Post by KArthur »

I am new to Family Historian 7, so excuse me if this has been covered.

When I run an individual narrative report, for the occupation field, it does not read very well. For example, if the occupation for the male person was a farmer and I put this in the Occupation field (a farmer), the report would say "He was a farmer|| he is a farmer". How can I change it to say "He was a farmer" and omit the extra part after the ||?

Thanks,
Kirk

I just figured it out. The sentence structure was under Tools> Fact Types, Occupation.

The sentence structure was "{individual} was {value} {date} {place} || {individual} is {value} {date} {place} " and I changed it to "{individual} was {value} {date} {place}".

SOLVED.

Not an expert by any means, but that looks like it is showing past and present tense, and perhaps one should expect just one of those to show in the sentence, depending on their living status?

I can see that is an imported Occupation Fact Set definition from TMG.
Presumably, TMG has a way of choosing between the two opinions separated by ||.
FH has no such feature, so your correction was correct.

You may find other fact definitions that need similar editing.

You will also need to review the Witness Roles as in FH it is not usual to have Principal fact witnesses.

BTW: I have moved this thread to the Reports, Books & Websites forum that is more appropriate.
