Spamhaus.org

Post by Gowermick »

I had a problem posting to another forum, when it was blocked by SPAMHAUS/ORG, who said my IP address was on a blacklist!
I rebooted my router to get another IP address, but my post to that forum was still blocked

Any suggestions?

EDIT It obviously didn't block this post :D

Is there anyone with membership of the whowherewhen forum, who could add a new post, to see if it is a general problem (https://www.whowhenwheregenealogy.org.uk)

Probably some hacker has been sending bulk spam using some of your service provider's block of IP addresses.
So the blanket blacklist may take a while to get resolved.
Try contacting your service provider's helpline and explain the problem.

Mike, it is not my IP address per se, as I’ve changed it and the site is still blocking my posts to that forum. Yet posts to this forum work!

As Mike said, it is probably a whole block of your service provider’s IP addresses which are affected, so changing your IP address within that block won’t help.

A similar problem affected messages sent to io groups (including the FH io group /mailing list) last year, for anyone with a Virgin Media group email address. If enough people complain to the service provider it should get sorted out.

This forum doesn’t use Spamhaus, it uses CleanTalk.
