* Merge MyHeritage and TNG Gedcoms (solved)

Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

Merge MyHeritage and TNG Gedcoms (solved)

Post by OlivierM »

Hello to all,

I my former post, and thanks to your help, I succeeded to import my Myheritage files and media.

However, I have genealogical databases on both MyHeritage (13.000 people) and TNG (11.000 people). Happily enough, they share the same INDI ID's.
I made changes to both datasets over the last two years (I agree, it is stupid)
Now I would like to merge both sets in one set on FH (And to use FH as my master genealogical database)

I did successfully import the MH database, incl media into FH, via TCGB creating a MHimport project
I merged the TNG gedcom into the MH import project. 3000 persons were merged
All TNG media files were found

However I end up with an enormous amount of duplicate facts (mainly BMD) that are perfectly identical.

Is there a way to avoid this or a function to delete the duplicate facts ?
- I found the "find duplicate facts" plugin, and indeed, they are all listed.
But how can I delete the duplicates in one go ?
- By selecting all the duplicates and deleting them with the delete key.

Thank you, Mike Tate, your former answers are very helpful!

(You can delete this question, or leave it for others)
(I hope I posted this in the right place. If not, I apologize, and will post it where it should be)
I started with Reunion > 30 years ago, later TMG.
I now use FH as main software, TNG to share my data.
Transkribus to decipher old texts.
Genealogica Grafica, TCGB and My Family Tree to view & check my data. And Genopro for its layered reports.

In the Result Set, select the Duplicate Facts you want to delete and hit the keyboard Delete key or use the Edit > Delete (Del) command.
