Maritime Census (1881)

Post by ChrisRead » 14 Feb 2023 15:34

I came across a maritime census for 1881 for an ancestor. It's slightly different to the normal one, with fewer columns and Master/Captain's signature. I can use the standard England one, but was wondering if anyone had cooked up a maritime census template (for this or any other years). It's not a big issue, was just curious.

I'll take that as a no then. ;)

So, I looked into the censuses for Ships & Vessels in port, and they are basically all the same from 1861 to 1891 as far as I can find examples of. So, I have created census templates for these years, and attached the definition file to this post.

Feel free to use it, and if anyone finds information and examples of other years I'll look to add to the set.

Once imported into AS Census Templates they appear as a Census in their own Region England(Ship or Vessel).

Thanks Chris, I might use that. I have canal boatmen in my ancestry, and they were often recorded on these. Like you, I'd used the standard template up to now.

Many thanks. No use for them yet, but I'll file them away
