I was checking that a pending update to the Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings via Windows plugin hasn't broken compatibility with old version backups, and received the following error message in the old plugin:
It's clear from examining the plugin code what the issue is, but it has a much more complex method for displaying the help page than the new one, where I simply use fhShellExecute(...) to display the help in the default Windows browser. Is there an advantage to the complex method that I'm missing?
Not sure about the recommended solution, as that updates an Internet Explorer Registry key (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MAIN\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION\fh.exe), which is outside the FH space in the Registry. Presumably, it has been tested, approved, and deemed safe...?

Re: Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings help display
I'm not sure how you managed to get that error message but it relates to when the 'Help and Advice' pages were in the old KB and accessed via the IE Shell feature and was indeed much more complex than now.
That error message existed in plugin Version 3.4 but does not exist in the Plugin Store Version 3.5 dated 10 May 2022.
So perhaps you are still running an old version of my plugin.

Ok thanks, that makes sense. It was an older version of the plugin and a newish FH installation, so happy that it’s a lot simpler nowadays!
