Record Civil Registration Data (UK)

Post by juliemuirhead49 » 10 Jan 2023 16:04

Hi, I have been building some new templates to configure my sources how I want them when I move data up to TNG.

Did try the Record Civil Registration Data (UK) plug in but it was hit & miss as to whether it gave me the extra options such as mothers maiden name for births.

I've given up with the Civil Registration plugin as it just doesn't display the extra fields that it should which is why I started making my own templates. As it's really only indexes like the Civil Registration ones that I plan to use the lumper method for.

Can you confirm that you were running the most up-to-date version from: RECORD CIVIL REGISTRATION DATA (UK)?

There are images showing its use at https://fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php ... 50#p132682, including the resultant Text from Source.

It sounds to me as if you were running a different plugin...

However, if you've now moved to a different template for civil registration indexes, the plugin won't work for you.

Plug in up-to-date and correct template. Gave up on it as it was hit and miss to start with as to whether it would work so started creating my own templates.

If you've done your own templates, I'm guessing you won't be interested in helping work out what was going wrong? :D

Can give it a go, as the other problem I have with the other plugin does have a few more sources than just civil registrations. They were just what I started with.

I am not sure if there is some confusion here. The Civil Registration Index Source Template does not contain fields like Mother Maiden Name and so it will not appear in the Citation.

The Maiden Name is recorded by the Record Civil Registration Data (UK), but only puts into the Text From Source field.

The option to add mothers maiden name isn't coming up as it should unfortunately. Tried multiple times and only comes up occasionally. It is proving totally unreliable which is not good.

Not sure if this helps.

I have developed an alternative plugin, CRD(UK) Birth, to replicate the official plugin you are using.

It uses the same template and source records, and generates the same citation and 'text from source', without the need to prepare the citation first.

You can find it towards the end of the Add GRO Source plugin topic in this forum.

There are variations for Death and Marriage in the same topic.

If you want to try my plugin, the first time you use it, you will need to identify the appropriate source record.
To do this first, select the region and then press the "source" button of the bottom of the screen.

This will list matching source records for the template and region. Select the one to use (may only be one) - you should have one from the plugin you have been using.
When you then save a Birth registration, the current region and template is remembered for future use, as is the assessment rating.

Let me know if you need anything.

The Add GRO Source forum, suddenly had lots of posts, so it may be difficult to identify my plugins in there.

I have now created a new thread CRD (UK) Plugins, to make them easier to find. viewtopic.php?f=42&t=21444
