Pete, I have moved this to the FH General Usage forum as it is nothing to do with Plugins.

Create a custom Individual Query and add a Columns tab entry for Miscellaneous + FamilySearch Id %INDI._FSID%
On the Rows tab filter add Exclude if %INDI._FSID% is null

In the Result Set select all the FamilySearch Id column cells and hit the Delete key.

You could use the Change Any Fact Tag plugin, select <Defined Tags> and FamilySearch Id then click the Delete every FamilySearch Id button.

Okay I tried making this but it did not work nothing happens. This is what I did:
1. Opened new custom query
2. Named this FSID with Individual in bottom box
3. Clicked okay
4. In columns I clicked Misc and clicked on Familyserach ID
5. In rows I added the %INDI._FSID% and used the is null mark
6. Clicked on result and nothing happens?
I saw where there are expressions boxes in columns area and I tried marking ascending in the sort box it then asked me for expression? Do I use this as well? I did not know what to put in the expression box. Oh I am using version 7.0.18 if that info needed thanks again

Pete - do you know for sure that your FamilySearch values are stored as _FSID? This is the FH built-in field, but if they were imported from another app via GEDCOM they are probably stored as a different field.

Where did yours originate please?

I used Family Historian with the built in web search for familysearch. When I look at the 5th option "all" Familysearch looks like this

Useful, thanks. The starburst around the FSID shows that it is an undefined field, not the regular FamilySearch ID. Try editing your query to remove the underscore (i.e. change %INDI._FSID% to %INDI.FSID%).

I'm a bit wary of over-eager deletion of UDFs. Just because FS doesn't recognise the field doesn't mean it's not potentially useful data (after all, you probably entered it into your previous app). If you are sure there is nothing worth saving, they are generally safe to delete.

If it is showing UID fields, these can be deleted if you are sure you don't need them, but it might be safer to convert them to _UID using the Change Any Fact Tag plugin (FH and RM use _UID for the UniqueID field, but the GEDCOM 7 version is UID, which FH doesn't (yet?) recognise).

Pete, it would be really helpful if you took things one step at time and explained exactly what you did.

Have you successfully deleted all your FSID fields?

You say you ran a plugin, but which one? You know but we don't, so why keep it a secret?

A screenshot of what you found and intend to delete would be better than a description.
See how the screenshot of your FSID gave a different perspective on the field as it was not the FH FamilySearch Id _FSID!

Isn’t that rather aggressive? It was never likely to be the FH FamilySearch ID from the initial description, as that’s a rather difficult field to populate, as I’m sure you now recall from various similar threads in the past.

It’s clear to me - the FSID, UID, and probably other fields as well have come from an import into FH, and we’re working a solution for tidying things up.
