Disappearing button icons

Post by Mark1834 » 19 Nov 2022 18:16

I often find the forum icons disappearing. Buttons are still functional, as long as I can remember what they are! I’ll come back to it later, and they’ve reappeared. It can happen either in Safari/iPad or Edge/Desktop.

Any suggestions?

Looks like you're using the Prosilver theme, Mark? If so, expect oddities as it's minimally supported in FHUG (and not supported at all by its developer).

The Prosilver theme is provided for those people who want the 'old' look and feel and/or a narrower theme, but it doesn't receive any of the customisation that the others do.

No, that’s my logged on theme - most of the time I’m in the standard theme, and it’s exactly the same.

I’ll post an update next time it occurs without logging on. Perhaps it’s getting confused by using two different themes?

Possibly... feels caching-related.

As an aside, I haven't found any issues with Prosilver - doesn't mean there aren't any but I'm not failing to do anything that I want to do.

I did just try the others and frankly I consider them amateurish and appalling  - most of them paint the whole screen, in a completely unneccessary manner. The one that doesn't (Marina Orange) appears to use a typeface that at my font sizes results in crude, blocky letters*. And it still gives screens bigger than they need to be, going off the bottom of the glass... So I'm crossing my fingers that it carries on working... (It may be the result of my screen size and magnification but who knows...)

* Moan alert - Re blocky letters - I used to complain bitterly at my employer using the corporate font (Gill Sans) on computer screens. It looked fine on the front of Railtrack House but reduced to 10 point the proportions and curves are all wrong, resulting in unnecessarily thick letters that don't go round corners very well. Regrettably far too many corporate design types only look at full sized letters and never at the way the letters map over the pixels on a screen.

In the standard theme as well. Not a big deal, it usually corrects itself fairly quickly.
